Experience of Being
An overarching feeling-awareness that pervades and contains self, world and reality — the ever-present background onto which the film of changing experience is projected.
What it is
An ever-present background of awareness
The Experience of Being is a constant, ever-present feeling-awareness — a background, container or horizon to self, world and reality as a whole, rather than one more object within experience. It can be likened to a screen onto which the film of our changing states is projected: always present, yet easily overlooked.
Because it pervades everything, it resists being turned into a particular experience to be grasped. The inquiry therefore approaches it with both phenomenological precision and contemplative care.
Why it matters
The ground of the Journey
Defining and describing this ever-present awareness — distinguishing it from passing states and peak experiences — is the aim of this line of research, and the ground on which the Master Peace Journey is built.
